Honeycomb is supplied in a variety of materials, sizes, and densities. Strong but lightweight, it also is flame- and fungi-resistant so proves to be highly effective in harsh environments. Honeycomb core is used for interior door panels and currently is installed on all NYCT and WMATA new cars.
